Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
Interesting voice and lyrics. Otherwise, Pearl Jam were Bon jovi with angst, never really interested me.

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
ten is an insane achievement. they rode the seattle grunge wave but they were never really that sort of band. ten is just a straight rock masterpiece and every track is a banger.

vedder is a top bloke too. never heard a bad word said about him.

treat for any musos out there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k55l7LMA7w

Big rave techno thing in Prague called transmission has been confirmed.

It’s at the O2 and is a 10,000+ venue, if that’s on then PJ should be.

Mother Love Bone was a completely different band. The remains members of that, plus Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, and Eddie Vedder as a guest, formed Temple Of The Dog and did a tribute album to Andrew Wood.

From that Pearl Ham came about - although they were originally calmed Mookie Blaylock, who was their favourite NBA player - but had to change their name because of the threat of legal action.

Their debut album is called Ten because that was his number

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
Pearl Jam were originally called Mother Love Bone until the lead singer Andrew Wood died of a drug overdose. Chloe Dancer/Crown of thorns is a great song.

Mr Burns

Great memory

It was on the word and it was the Jim Ross circus sideshow who were part of the grunge scene and touring with all the 90s bands back then.

They had a guy who could regurgitate at will , he downed some pints and then puked them straight back up into a glass and Vedder drunk it

Have a look at hunger strike by temple of the dog

First time of record and with Chris Cornell

Great song and two of the greatest vocalists of all time

I’m ten club at Hyde park too so fingers crossed - always a great show

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
I’m pretty sure I saw a video once of him drinking some puke, might have been his own. I seem to remember watching it in Parker’s in Brentwood bizarrely. That’s all I’ve got.

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
shitcunt vocalist from a shitcunt band who plays shitcunt ukelele

not been a good PJ album since Vitology

Ten is absolute shit n'all - only made barable by his lyrics back then

Green River were always the better band

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
Big PJ fan, Vedder looked like he had a death wish is his younger years was always scaling whatever he could climb up near the stage out of his face and jumping into the crowd from all sorts of heights. Mad to think his the last one standing out of those big grunge bands of that era. As mentioned first three albums are unreal Ten is a master piece, but some real gems spread across their later albums. I recommend watching their MTV unplugged set on YouTube, that performance of black is unreal.
Some great voices out of that era Vedder, Staley, Cornell and Welland.

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder

Has anyone seen him live? - Saw him first when he was a guest with The Who in 2000 at the RAH. have seen Pearl Jam twice since at the o2.

What are his best songs? - Black, Elderly Woman and Sirens are my personal favourites

How highly do we rate him? - 10/10

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
He probably qualifies as a world expert on crowd safety after what he witnessed down below him at the Roskilde festival in Denmark. He goes round checking everything to do with crush barriers, like a pro, before he plays anywhere.

Re: Talk to me about Edde Vedder
IIRC Defjam is the fella to enlighten you, like me he absolutely loves them.

Seen them in small venues in London (c. 400) to 70,000 people in Mexico, they are very good live.

Vedder's voice isn't as good as it use to be, however it was one of the best music has ever produced. Surrounds himself with top notch musicians with his band and is respected throughout the world.

One of my all time heroes.

My Son's middle name is Axl as I didn't like the name Edward...

As you were
